Stay:

Riad Baoussala is a relaxing oasis located outside of town. The hospitality is above and beyond, our stay was perfect! We recommend planning for a few days in Essaouria to allow for at least one full day at the pool plus time to enjoy the on-site hammam or enjoy a massage. The homemade coconut ice cream while soaking up the sun is a must!

Explore:

The Medina of Essaouira is much more laid back and easier to navigate than in the larger cities. You can wander without the fear of getting truly lost!

ramparts

Wander:

The Skala du Port ramparts are the perfect place for a relaxing stroll and people watching! Bonus: if you are a Game of Thrones fan it may look familiar!

Eat:

Seafood, obviously! There are two fish markets in Essaouira; one located at the harbor and one inside the Medina. We had a great lunch in the Medina where we chose our fresh fish from the market and the surrounding restaurants will grill it and you can order from a selection of Moroccan salads and sides.

sunset

Sip:

Head to the rooftop at Taros Cafe to grab a Flag Special or a glass of wine and watch the sunset!

Experience:

If you are in Essaouira on a Wednesday you can experience the nearby Berber market in the village of Ida Ogourd. Many locals come to the market to shop for the week with donkeys in tow and the “donkey parking lot” is a sight for sure!

Chill:

Head to the sleepy surf town of Sidi Kaouki where you can rent surf boards, ride camels on the beach or just relax and watch the waves!

These are just a few of our favorite highlights, there is so much to explore in Essaouira and depending on the time of year you visit we heard great things about the music festival! Below are some links for easy reference. Enjoy friends!
